REDWOOD CITY, California—May 9, 2013—Distinguished from over 500 competitive entries, DES Architects + Engineers has received the Award of Merit honors for two recent projects: the renovation of Jay Paul’s Headquarters and the 265 Lytton mixed-use project. DES’ work will be showcased at the upcoming, 50th Annual Gold Nugget Awards Ceremony on June 5th in San Diego.
Thrilled to receive Gold Nugget Awards for the second year in a row, DES continues to be recognized for its distinct and impactful designs. These awards focus on recognizing those who improve communities through exceptional concepts in design, planning, and development.
Awarded for the Interior Renovations category, Jay Paul’s renovated space achieved the overarching goal: to create a stylish, modern office that supports the company in developing groundbreaking commercial projects. Located in one of the most premier downtown office suites in San Francisco, the 9,500-sf suite is integrated with an Italian glass wall-to-wall system, bringing uninterrupted San Francisco Bay views from anywhere in the office. Flexibility was an important consideration as well, so reconfigurable freestanding tables and low-profile storage were utilized for their adjustability. Designed and constructed in just a seven-month period, the renovation far exceeded DES’ lofty goals.
Awarded for the Mixed Use project category, 265 Lytton seamlessly connects with the surrounding community. The Spanish-style development houses tech companies and four residences in downtown Palo Alto. Due to a complicated site, DES designed an L-shaped configuration for the new three-story building, which wraps the renovated Tinney Building and a mature oak tree, creating a charming courtyard for the lessees.
